Château Cantenac-Brown 2006, Margaux. Château Cantenac Brown was founded by Scotsman John-Lewis Brown over 200 years ago. It was recognised as a ‘Third Growth’ in the legendary 1855 Classification of Bordeaux and continues to stand out as one of the Left Bank’s finest producers. The Tudor-style château itself is enough to ensure Cantenac Brown’s fame in deeply traditional Bordeaux, but thankfully, it’s the quality of the wines that uphold the estate’s reputation. This is their flagship grand vin. Since 2019, the estate has been owned by the Le Lous family, and agricultural engineer Tristan Le Lous is deeply involved in its day-to-day running alongside director José Sanfins. Grapes for this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are harvested by hand, then carefully sorted before fermentation. Complex aromas of vanilla, wood, blackberry, blackcurrant, strawberry and cherry mirror in flavour. Ideal with red meats, game and mature cheese..
