Domaine Bouzereau-Gruère et Filles ‘Charmes’ Meursault Premier Cru 2019/22. Meursault is one of Burgundy’s most celebrated spots. It’s renowned for its uniquely intense and concentrated wines that showcase the power and finesse that Chardonnay is capable of producing. This illustrious estate was founded in 2001 by Hubert Bouzereau, a Meursault native, and Marie-France Gruère, from the nearby Chassagne-Montrachet. It’s now in the expert hands of their daughters, Marie-Laure and Marie-Anne, who won the Trophée des Jeunes Talents (Young Talents Trophy) in 2002. Tradition is at the heart of everything they do, utilising long-established winemaking techniques and using superior grapes from mature vines. 2018 was a vintage that required serious expertise in both Burgundy’s vineyards and wineries. And thankfully, Marie-Laure and Marie-Anne have plenty of both. The result is an incredibly complex wine that could potentially age for up to a decade. It’s rich and creamy with notes of toasted almond, honey, butter, hazelnut and flint. Pronounced flavours and a luxurious texture make it a great pairing for veal or poultry in a creamy sauce..
