Errazuriz Single Vineyard Chardonnay, Aconcagua. The Errazuriz Estate was founded in 1870 when Don Maximiano Errazuriz planted his first vineyards in Panquehue in the Aconcagua Valley, Chile. Recognising that this valley with its cool, rainy winters and hot, dry summers was ideal for growing grapes, Don Maximiano sent for the finest clones from France. With tenacity and perseverance he was able to transform a barren landscape into a world class vineyard. The beautiful original 1870 building still stands with the spectacular underground cellars still being used but it is also complemented with a new winery building completed in 2010. This is used exclusively for the production of their icon wines. For over 150 years, Errazuriz’s philosophy has been that quality begins in the vineyard itself – a whole-hearted commitment to “terroir” –the idea that each vineyard imparts its own distinct characteristic to the grapes grown there. Their single vineyard Chardonnay is citrusy with notes of tropical fruits, making it a perfect match for seafood, especially oysters and prawns..
