Louis Jadot ‘Les Bois Clairs’ Mâcon-Lugny 2022. Maison Louis Jadot is one of the most prestigious and well-known wineries in the Mâcon-Lugny appellation – and their wines are Majestic favourites for a reason. Founded in 1859, the estate has continually produced wines that reflect the nuances of Burgundy’s terroir. Winemaker. Frédéric Barnier is a Burgundy man through and through and a firm advocate of ‘terroir’. The Mâcon-Villages area is located in the southern half of Burgundy, close to the Beaujolais area and covering about 2, 500 hectares of vineyards and 43 villages. The vineyards only produce white wines and are situated on the ‘Mont du Mâconnais’ where the limestone subsoils are ideal for growing Chardonnay. The grapes for this wine are harvested by hand, then half of the blend is aged in old French oak to add a roundess to the palate and a plumpness of texture. Light, lively and charming with white floral and apple aromas with a hint of lemon. Best served slightly more chilled than your usual Chardonnay, this wine is a fantastic pairing for chicken dishes and crisp caesar salads..
